Overview
This policy explains what information Resource Mechanical Insulation, LLC ("RMI", "we") collects when you visit rmi-llc.net, why we collect it, and how long we keep it. We collect a detailed record of each visit and a more detailed one of each contact-form submission, so we can understand where our work comes from, respond to inquiries, and keep automated spam out of our queue. The sections below list every category we collect. We do not sell your information.
Information collected automatically
When you browse the site, a first-party beacon records the following about the visit. It runs on every page.
- Your network address. Your IP address, and what a lookup of it returns: approximate city, region, country and postal area, the internet provider or organization that owns the address, its network (ASN) number, and whether it looks like a VPN, a datacenter or an anonymity network.
- Your device and browser. Browser name and version, operating system, device type, screen and window size, pixel density, color depth, language, time zone, touch support, number of processor cores, approximate memory, and connection type.
- What you did on the page. Pages viewed, the page that referred you, scroll depth, time on page, clicks and other interactions, which sections you reached, whether you started the contact form, and whether you moved to leave the page.
- Campaign parameters. Any UTM values in the URL you arrived on.
- A visitor ID. A random identifier we generate and store in your browser’s local storage, mirrored to a first-party cookie, so we can tell a repeat visit from a first one. We keep a running summary against it: first and last time seen, how many visits and pages, and the first and most recent campaign and referrer.
How far this identifies you. We look up the organization that owns the network address a visit comes from, so an anonymous visit may be attributed to a company. We do not attempt to identify you as an individual from browsing alone, and we do not combine any of this with a third-party identity database. You are identified as a person only when you fill out the contact form and give us your details.
Information you provide
When you submit our contact / quote-request form, we collect the name, company, email, phone number, project details, and message you enter so we can respond to your request.
A submission is also recorded with more detail than a page view, so we can tell a real inquiry from automated spam and prepare a useful reply. In addition to everything listed above, we record:
- Device traits used as a fingerprint. A hash of how your browser draws a test image (a canvas fingerprint), your graphics hardware’s vendor and renderer strings, a hash of the fonts installed on your device, whether local storage, session storage and IndexedDB are available, whether a camera or microphone is present and how many media devices there are, your full list of preferred languages, your Do Not Track setting, maximum touch points, and whether the browser reports itself as automated.
- How you filled the form. Time from page load to your first keystroke, time spent on the form, how many times you edited a field, the order you moved between fields and how long you spent in each, whether anything was pasted, how many times you switched away from the tab, pauses in typing, mouse movements and clicks, key presses, touch events, scrolling direction changes and speed, and page-load timings (DNS, connection, first byte, load and ready).
- A spam score calculated from those signals and from the network lookup.
- A read of your message. Your submission is passed to an AI model, which writes a short summary of it, rates how likely it is to be a real project inquiry, and searches the web to check that the company you named is a real business. What it finds is stored with the inquiry.
This is used to respond to your inquiry and to keep spam out of our queue. It is visible only to RMI staff.
Services that process this data
- A first-party visitor beacon we run ourselves, which stores the signals listed above in our own database.
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic and engagement measurement.
- Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights — page and performance metrics.
- ipapi.co — the IP lookup that returns the location and network-owner information described above.
- Anthropic (Claude) — the AI model that summarizes and rates a contact-form submission.
- Resend — delivers the confirmation email we send you and the notification we send ourselves.
We do not sell your information.
Data retention
Per-visit session records are deleted after 90 days. The visitor ID and its running summary are kept until you clear this site’s stored data; the cookie that mirrors the ID expires 13 months after your last visit. Contact-form submissions, and the record described above that is collected with them, are retained for as long as needed to manage the inquiry and our ongoing business relationship.
Your choices
There is no on-site switch that turns our beacon off, and we do not currently change what we collect based on your browser’s Do Not Track setting — we record that setting as one more signal. What does work:
- Blocking JavaScript for this site stops the beacon from running at all.
- Browser privacy or ad-blocking extensions stop Google Analytics from loading.
- Clearing this site’s cookies and stored data removes the visitor ID, so later visits are not linked to earlier ones.
- You can request deletion of your information at any time by contacting us using the details below.
