Permanent insulation cannot be installed on every component in a piping or equipment system. Valves, flanges, strainers, expansion joints, and access points are typically left bare because maintenance personnel need to reach them without destroying the insulation. These uninsulated components become the largest sources of thermal loss in the system — radiating heat from steam and hot water lines, or allowing heat gain on chilled water and refrigerant lines.

Resource Mechanical Insulation designs, fabricates, and installs custom removable insulation blankets that close these gaps. Our blankets provide the same thermal performance as permanent insulation and can be removed and reinstalled in minutes, without damage or waste. The result is a fully insulated system — including all the components that permanent insulation cannot reach.

Why Resource Mechanical Insulation?

Local 25 Union Workforce

Every insulator on our crews is trained and certified through Local 25 of the Heat & Frost Insulators and Allied Workers — the professional standard for the trade.

OSHA EMR 0.73

Our Experience Modification Rate of 0.73 ranks among the lowest in the insulation industry, reflecting a consistent commitment to job-site safety.

24 / 7 Emergency Response

Our dispatch line is staffed around the clock. When an insulation emergency hits — nights, weekends, or holidays — we mobilize immediately.

In-House Fabrication

Our Romulus shop fabricates custom pipe supports and removable blankets, cutting lead times from weeks to days and keeping your project on schedule.

What We Do

Custom Blanket Fabrication

Each blanket is built to exact measurements taken at your facility. We use high-temperature inner materials — fiberglass, mineral wool, or ceramic fiber — encased in durable outer fabrics including silicone-coated fiberglass, PTFE-coated fabric, or stainless steel mesh, sized and rated for the specific operating environment.

Valve & Flange Blankets

Valves, flanges, and fittings are typically the largest source of uninsulated heat loss in any piping system. Our removable blankets recover heat that would otherwise radiate from these components, reducing energy costs while preserving quick maintenance access.

Equipment & Access-Point Covers

We fabricate covers for heat exchangers, turbine casings, steam traps, strainers, expansion joints, and any equipment component that requires periodic inspection or maintenance. Fastening systems include stainless steel lacing hooks, D-rings, Velcro straps, and spring-loaded toggle latches.

Seasonal & Maintenance-Access Applications

Removable blankets are ideal for seasonal use — installed during cold months for freeze protection and energy savings, removed during warm months when insulation is not required. They also support scheduled maintenance programs where permanent insulation would be destroyed and replaced repeatedly.

Every blanket we fabricate is tagged, numbered, and documented for easy identification and reinstallation. Maintenance teams can quickly locate, remove, and replace the correct blanket without guesswork — keeping your insulation system performing at its designed efficiency over the long term.

Our Process

1

Site Assessment

We walk your facility or review mechanical drawings to fully understand the scope, access requirements, and any scheduling constraints.

2

Detailed Proposal

You receive a clear, itemized quote with material specifications, quantities, and a realistic installation timeline.

3

Installation

Our union-trained crew completes the work per spec, maintaining quality checkpoints and coordinating with other trades on active job sites.

4

Documentation & Follow-up

We provide as-built notes, material records, and warranty information. We remain available for questions and follow-on scope.
